Major Kevin Michael Bayens, 35, of Louisville, was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of November 23, 2016, with loving family and friends by his side. He devoted his life to his community since 1999 as a fire fighter for the Highview Fire Department and as their Fire Marshall since 2013, not only saving lives and putting out fires, but also as a trainer and instructor for the last 12 years at Texas A&M, along with being a volunteer for the Edmonson/Grayson County Anetta Fire Department.
Left cherishing his memory is his wife Hillary Steff Bayens; parents, Kenny Sr. and Sharon Bayens; brother, Kenny Jr. (Cayce) Bayens; nephew and niece, Zachary and Maranda Bayens; in-laws, David and Sharon Steff and sister-in-law, Taylor Steff; along with many family, friends and co-workers who were blessed to have him in their lives. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Highview Baptist Church, 7711 Fegenbush Lane, followed by a Fire Fighters Final Farewell at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5-8 p.m., Sunday from noon - 8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hosparus staff for their care of Kevin during this difficult time. And also to the many family members and friends who kept vigil with him offering their time and love.
