Funeral Arrangements for Monica Rath
Funeral Arrangements for Southgate Firefighter/EMT and KFA Secretary Monica Rath:
Visitation: Visitation for Monica will be on Tuesday March 15, from 1 to 8 pm at the Southgate Community Center, 301 West Walnut St., Southgate KY, 41071. Two firefighters will stand Honor Guard for Monica during the entire visitation. Firefighters will rotate in fifteen minute shifts. If you would like to stand honor guard for a shift contact the Southgate Fire Department at (859) 441-1422. Class A Uniform is required. KFA dignitaries may stand honor guard in their KFA Red Jacket.
Mass: Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 16 at 11am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 11 Temple Place, Southgate KY, 41071. All fire and EMS personnel are invited to participate. Fire and EMS personnel arriving in fire department staff cars, vehicles or apparatus will be staged on Electric Ave. south of the Southgate Fire Station (128 Electric Ave.). Fire personnel should arrive no later than 10am to be positioned and briefed. Fire department personnel will stand in formation outside of church as Monica arrives and is brought into church. Southgate and Ft. Thomas personnel will sit in the front of church along with Southgate City Officials, KFA Dignitaries and Fire Commission personnel. All other fire and EMS personnel may be asked to stand depending on seating availability in church. After the service fire and EMS personnel will again assemble outside of church as Monica is brought from the church and placed into the hearse.
Funeral Procession: There will be a funeral procession from St. Therese Church to Grandview Cemetery on Smith Road (Rt. 735) in California Kentucky. The procession route will be south on US 27 to Moock Rd. Right onto Moock Rd. to the AA Highway. Left onto the AA Highway and south to Rt. 735. Left onto Smith Rd. (RT. 735) to the cemetery. Fire department personnel and vehicles are welcome to participate in part or all of the funeral procession.
The order of vehicles will be as follows:
Southgate Police, Southgate Unit 1380, Southgate Engine 1302, Ft. Thomas Engine 601, Hearse, Family and Friends, KFA and Fire Commission vehicles, all other Fire and EMS vehicles and apparatus, Southgate Engine 1301.
All fire and EMS vehicles will park on Smith Rd. or at Campbell County Fire District #1 Station 52 which is located near the cemetery. At the cemetery following the grave side service, Monica will be given her “Last Call”. Following the service Station 52 will be open to all firefighters and ems personnel. There will also be a reception for family, friends and fire and ems personnel at the Southgate Community Center.
Memorials: Memorials for Monica may be sent to the Southgate Volunteer Fire Department or the Shriners Burns Hospital, Cincinnati Ohio.
