PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR as ask them the following: ALLOW FOR ADEQUATE TIME FOR REVIEW OF ANY PENSION PROPOSALS. PLEASE DELAY ACTION ON PENSIONS UNTIL THE REGULAR SESSION. Call to Action!!

On January 2, 2018, the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant programs will be eliminated if Congress does not act to extend them. In August the U.S. Senate unanimously passed S. 829, which extends the grants through FY 2023 and eliminates the "sunset" provision in current law stipulating the elimination of the programs. The House has yet to act on S. 829 or any AFG/SAFER reauthorization bill. On November 16, the co-chairs of the House Fire Services Caucus circulated a sign-on letter to the Republican and Democratic leadership of the House of Representatives asking them to bring S. 829 to the House floor for a vote. Retired Asst. Chief Roger Hamilton Roger Hamilton, 64, of Covington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Roger was a retired assistant fire chief for Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport Fire Department, an Air Force veteran, KY Colonel, certified Master Firefighter, life member of N. KY Firefighter's Association and board member of C. & O. Credit Union. His many hobbies included; golf, his 64 ½ Ford Mustang, woodworking and coaching youth baseball and basketball for 35 years.
