The regular meeting of the NKFA was called to order by President Joe Stambush with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence. Roll call was taken and all present noted. The minutes were accepted as sent with a motion from Don Messingschlager and a 2nd by Mark Bailey. Motion passed. Treasurer's report was accepted with a motion from Terry Keller and a 2nd from Dave Jansing. Motion passed. A motion to pay the bills was made by Terry Keller and 2nd by Denny Finke. Motion passed.
Officers Reports:
President Joe Stambush congratulated Ft. Thomas on receiving funds from the FEMA grant. He also thanked everyone for making the funeral for Sylvan "Smitty" Smith so special. He asked for everyone's help in trying to put together a list of past presidents. If you have any information please forward to secretary Monica Rath.
Treasurer Bud Lederer reported that he will be taking out a $3000.00 CD.
Secretary Monica Rath reported that the next regular meeting will be at the Airport Training Center and that there were copies of various important items on the front table for any one who may need a copy.
 
At this time President Joe Stambush turned the floor over to Eric Johnson of Supporting Heroes. Mr. Johnson gave a very heart touch presentation on what the organization supports, passed out information on the organization and asked us to keep his organization in mind and pass the word. Their website is SupportingHeroes.org and was established on September 11, 2004. They are in the business of supporting widows/widowers, of line of duty deaths, in their time of need, whenever that may be. After about a 20-30 minute presentation Mr. Johnson thanked us for our time. Rick Hopple made a motion to give a check for $250.00 to supporting heroes. Dave Jansing 2nd the motion. Motion passed. 
Legislative:
Dave Jansing reported that the email address to get on the mailing list for the updated action on the various bills is Dave.Jackson@kyfa.org. He then went over various bills in the house.
Fire Prevention / Public Education:
Green Rivers School is February 25th & 26th. NKFA School will be hosting a fire setter's class. State School is still putting together 2 different 2 day classes to be held at State Fire School.
Membership:
Joe Eggemeier passed out the perfect attendance certificates and Southgate received the most attended certificate. It needs to be noted that Alexandria and Ryland Heights should have also receive perfect attendance certificates. Joe will take care of getting it to them.
Regional Fire School:
The committee has been meeting. They have come up with a list of classes that will be out soon. The school will be May 20th and 21st. There will be a special class on heavy truck rescue.
Awards Banquet: Charlie Rauch will give a full report at the next regular meeting after all of the bills are in. After some discussion it was brought up that the different categories will be mailed out to the Chiefs earlier in the year and if and when something happens they can immediately turn nominations into Charlie.
EMS:
The senate bill 66 monies are going through a stricter audit. Please keep receipts back to 2002. Billing codes have been cut down to 160 to help with speed billing and eliminate confusion. EMS teacher's conference will be coming up soon. This will be held in our area and flyers will be out soon.
Haz Mat/ OEM:
Ken Knipper reported that the Campbell County unit will be up and running soon. The target date id June 1st. Chiefs Pohlman and Bailey are working together on this. Campbell and Kenton counties will be coming together to work this unit. When training is set up it will be set up with Boone county and Greater Cincinnati so if someone can not make a particular class they can catch it in the other county. NIMS Cast #2 will be out soon and everyone needs to take it. Ken also reported on the updates with the communications grant.
2008 Conference:
February 21st at 7:30 at Southgate will be the next committee meeting.
FF Memorial:
Due to Chief Atwell's up coming retirement Bill Ravenscraft was appointed in charge of the firefighter's memorial. Bill reported that an audit was preformed and all turned out OK. September 11th remembrance will still continue.
 
Old Business:
At this time President Stambush asked all of the newly elected officers to come forward. The Mayor for the City of Erlanger swore all current officers in and they took their post accordingly.
 
President Bruce Smith took over control of the meeting and called for all
New Business:
Terry Keller made a motion to send $100.00 to the firefighter memorial in memory of Sylvan Smith. Joe Eggemeier 2nd the motion. Motion passed. Terry Keller asked for the audit committee to be at the Airport at 6:30 before the next meeting to perform an audit of the books.
The 2004 conference committee turned over $27,000.00 to the NKFA future conferences.
 
The raffle was won by the NEW PRESIDENT Bruce Smith for $64.00. Rick Hopple made a motion for the meeting to adjourn. Tim Kleier 2nd the motion. Motion passed. The next meeting will be at the Airport training facility.
